SHIPPING company CMA CGM will
upgrade its services linking Asia to India and
the Middle East Gulf with the introduction of a
new string to its CIMEX service effective end of
this month.
It said in a statement that the service coverage
from Asia would now be split into two strings.
String one will be dedicated to serving the
markets of the Gulf States, Iran and Iraq while
string two will be dedicated to Colombo and
India's west coast supplemented with a call in
the Gulf.
String one will make stops at Ningbo, Shanghai,
Fuqing/Fuzhou, Chiwan, Port Klang, Jebel Ali,
Khorfakkan, and Bandar Abbas.
String two will call at Xiamen, Shantou, Chiwan,
Laem Chebang, Port Klang, Colombo, Nhava Sheva,
and Jebel Ali.
Each string will be operated with five vessels
of an average capacity of 2,500 TEUs
(20ft-equivalent units) and in cooperation with
CMA CGM affiliates, ANL and CNC.
CMA CGM group chief executive vice-president
Farid Salem said the trade from Asia to the
Middle East had enjoyed a healthy growth and
this was likely to continue.
“Our customers have been requesting us to keep
pace with their growth. The Asia to India trade
– linking the two economies with the highest
populations – has been growing steadily and the
pace is expected to increase following the
expanding economic ties and increase in
disposable income in India,” he said in the
statement.
This new service configuration is responding to
these developments by offering fast transit
times to each market. |
