Port Klang acts to keep out flu virus

Port users in Port Klang have been assured that all precautions have been taken against the spread of influenza A (H1N1).

Port Klang Authority general manager Lim Thean Shiang said ships from affected countries would have to fly the Q (quarantine) flag but would be allowed to berth.

Once cleared by the port health authority, the ships would be able to off load their cargo, Lim said in a press statement yesterday.

Vessels with suspected infected persons on board would have to anchor until they were cleared  by the department.

Lim added that pilots bringing in the vessels from affected countries had also been equipped with personal protection equipment such as disposable gloves and N95 face masks.
