The
Malaysian International Maritime Association (MIMA) will be
organising its sixth conference on the Strait of Malacca on June
23 and 24.
Themed "Charting the Future," the conference aims to enhance
mutual understanding and cooperation between the three littoral
states of Malaysia, Indonesia and Singapore and users of the
Strait of Malacca, on issues concerning overall management of the
straits as well as safety of navigation, security and
environmental protection.
It also plans to examine past and present efforts in addressing
the issues in the Strait of Malacca as well as to examine possible
future management approaches.
The conference will feature speakers from the littoral states as
well as the users. Overseas speakers are from China, India, Japan
and the US. |
